St. Mary's Do The Double!
After
the continued success of the 'East Grinstead High 5 Alive Netball
League' (see www.egjnl.org.uk)
it was great to see so many Primary Schools again take part in the
annual High 5's Netball Tournament at Imberhorne School on the 22nd
March.
The 1st stage of the Tournament saw the Schools compete in the
group phase where they would play each team in their group once.
The teams would then be ranked with all 1st placed ranked teams
playing each other to determine the winners, runners-up, and 3rd
place team. The teams that finished 2nd would then play-off to see
who finished 4th, 5th and 6th - and so on.
I n
the Ranking phase, the final three positions were fought out between
Turners Hill, Copthorne, and St. Mary's. All three games proved
to be very interesting encounters, with very little to choose between
the teams. In the first match, Turners Hill edged out Copthorne
5-4. However, Turners Hill were unable to sustain their positive
start and lost 5-0 to the sharp-shooters from St. Mary's. This put
St. Mary's in the driving seat as they knew that a draw or win would
be good enough to lift the trophy. Copthorne proved stubborn opposition
and made St. Mary's fight for the title of tournament champions.
The game ended in a 1-1 draw, which meant the celebrations could
start, and having won the 5-Aside Football Tournament the week before,
St. Mary's can lay claim to doing the double!
Congratulations to all of the teams that took part and a big thank
you to the Imberhorne Sports Leaders who were a brilliant help,
the teachers and coaches who dedicate so much of their own time,
and the parents who came to support their children.
Enjoy your sport.
