High 5-Alive Netball League
FITTING FINALE
The 2nd annual High 5-Alive Netball League was played
between Year 5 and 6 girls and boys from the East Grinstead Primary
Schools. It was split into two leagues with Small Schools and
Big Schools separated. The Big school division was played at
Sackville School,
whilst Imberhorne hosted the Small School
division. Sports Leaders from both secondary schools umpired
and officiated the matches to ensure that the Leagues ran smoothly.
After all of the matches have been completed in the League phase
it is the top two teams (as highlighted in bold) from both leagues
who play-off for the honour of lifting the High 5-Alive Trophy.

Throughout the year the standard of the netball in the High 5-Alive
League has improved, and deservedly the play-off final matches
delivered a fitting climax to the whole competition.
The Play-off matches were
competed between:
Halsford Park (10) v Ashurst Wood (0)
AND
Estcots (10) v St. Marys
(2)
Both Halsford
Park and Estcots recorded convincing wins
in their respective matches, which suggested a tight and gripping
final was in store
..
...and it didnt disappoint!
After the first two quarters the match was all-square at 3-3,
but by the end of the third, Halsford
Park had built up a useful advantage as
they led 6-3 going into the final quarter. However, it was no
surprise to see Estcots score 3 unanswered points to level things
up at 6-6. In very windy conditions the shooting from both teams
was still excellent and they traded goals as they relentlessly
attacked. With 1 minute left on the clock Halsford Park
scored to edge ahead again to make it 10-9, but with only seconds
left Estcots had two chances to take the game into overtime.
Both attempts hit the rim of the post to leave Estcots agonisingly
close, but ultimately as runners-up.
In the race for third place, St. Marys won 10-1 against
Ashurst Wood.
Many congratulations to all the teams that took part in the final
play-off and league matches, and well done to the Winners, Halsford Park:
