East Grinstead Youth Sports Development Officer
A very warm welcome to you all. Whether you're revisiting
the site or checking it out for the first time, it is really
great to have you on board.
Having
only taken over from the previous incumbent, Edward Fane,
at the beginning of September, this may be your first form
of contact with me.
Before I took this position I worked for over two years
as the Sports Administrator at the University of Brighton.
This matched my ambitions of staying within the sport industry,
having previously gained my BA HONOURS Leisure and Recreation
degree at De Montfort University - Bedford.
As the Youth Sports Development Officer for East Grinstead,
I aim to carry on the good work done by my predecessor and
take the service on to the next level. That equates to increasing
sporting opportunities and provision to as many of the town's
youth as possible. This will be done in conjunction with both
Sackville Community College and Imberhorne School, as well
as the local sports clubs and the Youth Service.
Another great medium to be used to help improve the service
profile will be this website. It is the perfect tool to give
the new web team the scope to advertise, promote and detail
future sporting plans and events.
The team will comprise of Steve Hill (YSDO), Matt Jones
(Sackville), Steven Hemblade (Imberhorne) and James Ohlson
(Oxted). Although, the team offer a great deal of knowledge
and skill, it is by no means complete, and we are always looking
for budding writers to offer their services to improve the
site. Together with our Webmaster, Artisan
Websites, we will be aiming to update the site as often
as possible to the best of our ability.
It is the teams aim to start the new era with a re-launch
of the Youth Sport Development website to help promote the
great service it provides
.
SO WATCH THIS SPACE FOR GREAT COMPETITIONS AND TOP PRIZES!!!!
We also hope to initiate some changes to the site by including
some new features:
VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH:
A piece will be written on the individual or individuals responsible
for the most productive community work of the month. It is
hoped that this coverage and exposure will help the cause
or project that the volunteers are involved in.
CLUB OF THE MONTH:
This recognition 'award' will be given to the sports club
who have shown a real desire to support the local community.
It will allow the club the opportunity to advertise themselves
free of charge on the site for the whole month with photos,
special offers and a written report promoting their role and
achievements.
Before I sign off, I would just like to take this opportunity
to say that I look forward to working with and for you in
the near future. To contact me call 01342 321185 or email
me.
Enjoy your sport, Steve Hill.
