OFFICIAL: National School Sports Week is a Success!!

Over 250 YR3 children from schools all around East Grinstead participated in a Sports Fair for The National School Sports Week. Steve Hill (School Sport Co-ordinator for Imberhorne School) organised the event in association with Mid-Sussex School Sports Partnership and the Imberhorne School sports leaders.

The purpose of the event was for children to participate in a sport they had never attempted before and to develop their knowledge in sports they had, whilst raising the profile of PE and School Sport with young children, parents and teachers.

The event, which ran on Wednesday 30th June during the National School Sports Week, was also used to help promote and create excitement around the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Local clubs and coaches were kind enough to offer their services in a variety of different sports such as Rugby (East Grinstead Rugby Club - Anton White), Tennis (East Grinstead Lawn Tennis Club - James and Alex Over), Trampolining (Freedom Leisure - Bradley Lever), Street Dance (Shaun Angel Academy - Shaun Angel), Golf (Chartham Park - Ben Knight) Hockey (Claire Stanton)

'It was great to promote such a fantastic and worthwhile initiative as the National Schools Sports Week through this really positive event with the YR 3's from East Grinstead Primary Schools' (Steve Hill).
