Year 7 Get Fair Sporting Chance
Every YR 7 student from Sackville and Imberhorne was given an exciting
sporting chance as they took part in the 11th annual Sports Fair
on Thursday 12th October. Having been given a choice of over 25
different sports to select from, the students had the hard task
of choosing their top three.
"There was an even greater variety of sports to choose from
this year", said sports fair organiser, Steve Hill. "We
managed to bring in coaches to do Lacrosse, Golf and even Thai Kick
Boxing".
The atmosphere in the Kings Leisure Centre was great and the off-site
clubs did a brilliant job in making sure that the children that
chose mountain biking (at Deers Leap Park), golf (at Horne Golf
Club), and cricket and hockey (at the East Grinstead Sports Club)
had a fantastic session.
"The whole ethos behind the sports fair relies on the local
sports clubs, coaches and instructors. Without their support the
Sports Fair just would not work", reasoned Steve.
The day was also the perfect demonstration of how effective leadership
courses can work within schools and the local community.
"The sports leaders from both Sackville and Imberhorne were
brilliant on the day and made a major contribution to the sports
fair with their support of the coaches and the way they looked after
the YR 7 students", confirmed Bernie Streeter, SSCO for Sackville.
It is now hoped that the children will continue to play the new
sports that they may have tried at the sports fair within the local
community under the expert guidance of our brilliant clubs and coaches.
